Burlingame United Methodist Church is honored that you’re considering us for one of your most significant life events. We welcome you to contact us to discuss your event details and/or schedule a tour. Our Spanish eclectic style church was designed by architect Rollin S. Tuttle and constructed in 1925 at 1443 Howard Avenue in Burlingame, California. We have a gable style roof top clad in terracotta clay tiles and adorned with a charming cupola and cross. There are large arched and rose stained glass windows. We have grand double wood paneled doors into our church and a classic German pipe organ in our sanctuary. Baptisms
People of all ages can be baptized at Burlingame UMC. Non-members are encouraged to seek membership as soon as possible after being baptized. We baptize by placing Holy Water on a person’s head to invite the presence of the Holy Spirit. The United Methodist Church recognizes baptisms from other faiths and churches and therefore does not re-baptize people, but as a congregation we regularly remember and reaffirm our baptisms.

Weddings
In the United Methodist tradition, we believe that marriage is a sacred covenant, instituted by God, and confirmed by the church community. Burlingame UMC views the marriage ceremony as a worship service within the same liturgical context as the weekly worship services. Therefore, wedding ceremonies are celebrated with our traditional liturgy and practice. This sacred ceremony, in which you enter into a covenant with God and one another, creates the foundation for your marriage. By choosing to be married by a representative of God’s Church, you are inviting God’s presence in your wedding and purposely asking for God’s blessing upon the marriage.
Most weddings at BUMC are held in the sanctuary or side chapel. The sanctuary seats approximately 200 guests comfortably. The beautiful woodwork and stained glass windows provide the perfect backdrop for your wedding ceremony. Wedding Application

Funerals
A United Methodist funeral remembers and honors those who died, as well as the life of Jesus Christ and our hope in eternal life because of his resurrection. When someone we love dies, though we grieve, we also celebrate the life they lived and seek comfort in the rituals of our faith and the love of our church community. When a death has occurred, our pastor would be honored to provide the service for your loved one here at the church, at the funeral home or graveside depending on the family’s decision.
